This will be a short post as we leave the Andes behind and fly to Santa Marta on the Caribbean Coast of Colombia. The morning was pleasant enough. We had the hotel rooms until 12 pm and then wondered over to the shopping centre for some lunch and while away time. Our pick up was with the lovely Jesus who had been driving us for the past few days. The poor guy had to drive for 2 hours around the tunnel as there was a fatal accident and the tunnel was closed!
The evening was a bit of a schmozzle. Our original 4pm flight was changed to 7:30pm then further delayed...this time the offender was LATAM. By the time we arrived at our hotel in Santa Marta, it was 11:30pm. The hotel receptionist was the first unsmiling and unhelpful Colombian that we had met. The check in process took forever because apparently they didn't have internet, then she wanted a photo of us which I flatly denied. Next she wanted to put wristbands on us which again I denied. We were just there overnight to sleep! Then she wouldn't tell us which rooms we were in and just asked us to go up to the next level. Finally she proceeded to take inventory of the minibar! I was so mad and tired I didn't take any photos lol.
So...Casa Mia Boutique Hotel was one hotel I definitely DO NOT recommend!
