Happy Birthday Sidney!

We had a real birthday to celebrate today, Uncle Sidney's! We headed out to Animal Kingdom for the second time. The group separated to go on their favourite rides before re-convening for Kali River Rapids. It was open today! We prepared ourselves as well as we could and hopped on. Most of the family managed to stay relatively dry the first time around but we couldn't avoid the tsunami that crashed into our side of the raft the second time around. Of course, it just happened to be the coolest day of our stay here so far...walking around with wet jeans and underwear was not pleasant! From there, it was back to revisiting favourite attractions including Festival of the Lion King, Dinosaur and Expedition Everest. We then returned to the resort for a swim and a rest.

Getting ready for Kali River Rapids

Let's go!

Festival of the Lion King

Costumes, sets and performers were all phenomenal

The view of the golf course from our balcony, making Malcolm itch to play golf

The lighthouse near the pool area

Attention to details in the room. The corner table lamp

Some light reading for the afternoon. Thank you Sharon!

Games by the pool

Lara won a ball

Elliot won candy galore

Dinner was at Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness. We caught a bus to the Magic Kingdom en masse and then hopped into the ferry to take us across the lake. It really felt like we were going to woop woop! The Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue is one of the longest running shows in Walt Disney World and I can see why. The finale involving the audience was hilarious. It was so much fun and a great way to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries! Nothing beats good old country style entertainment with singing, dancing and lots of fried chicken and ribs. Mmmm! Unfortunately, I couldn't contain myself from the cornbread and committed the cardinal sin of filling with carbs before the protein arrived. Disney had kindly organised buses to take us back to our respective resorts directly from Fort Wilderness which was a pleasant surprise.
