Scooting to Singapore

Our Scoot plane that would take us to Singapore

The time had come. Four mothers of Year 12 boys bravely leaving their charges to fend for themselves in search of rest and relaxation on the island city of Singapore. It started off with an off hand comment on our need for a girls' weekend away. Along came a Scoot sale. Coupled with upcoming devaluation of Qantas points transformed what was seemingly a pipe dream into reality. How could one resist $179 one way flights and returning on a business class flight?! Ok so we would be flying British Airways and not Qantas but let's just ignore that for the time being...Throw in a deal at the Conrad Hotel and it was a done deal. Just take our money already.

We survived our week. Thursday couldn't come fast enough. Even coronovirus couldn't deter us. We would travel equipped with hospital grade disinfectant wipes. Our hopes for an empty flight on account of coronophobia were cruelly crushed. The flight was about 90% full and check in took a while, but we did get seated together without having to pay extra so we took the win and proceeded to the Amex lounge. The lounge was eerily empty and we made the most of it. We fed and watered ourselves before our no frills budget flight. Unfortunately some of our fears were realised. Passengers with untreated body odours were seated behind us. Fortunately, Serena was prepared. She had sprayed herself liberally with perfume whilst walking through the designer frangrance section enroute to our gate. We made ourselves as comfortable as we could within the limitations of a a budget economy cabin. I survived. Just. Heather perhaps found it a little more difficult having had to sit next to an young adult male travelling to his buck's weekend armed with a doll and pink ipad. That's a whole story in itself...

Fortunately immigration and baggage pick up on arrival was quick. By the time we got to the Conrad Hotel, it was close to 2am and we were exhausted. We passed their temperature testing and were led up to our spacious rooms. Any further explorations would have to done later. It was time for melatonin and sleep.
When going budget, one catches the train to the airport. Still fresh and smiling...
