Octoberopolis

It is not quite time yet to let go of the Covid commentary...this trip IS as a result of cancelled covid plans made back in 2020 when we, as eternal optimists, foolishly thought 2021 would be a great year to recommence travel. WRONG! The frequent flyer points had to redirected and Greece it was with 2 kids less when we chanced upon reward seats available during the school holidays. Fortunately for us, by the time this trip rolled around, much of the covid restrictions including vaccine, testing and masking requirements have been scrapped. We got up excitedly to go to the airport as this was our first international trip overseas as a family since January 2020, blissfully unaware that strong winds from the storm overnight had cancelled more than 40 flights...Our flight took off (on time) and we celebrated by finally watching Top Gun 2 onboard.

I will keep the rest of the post brief as most of the hours were spent either in the air, or in airports. We arrived in Singapore uneventfully, enjoyed the newly opened SilverKris Lounge at T3 Changi for 5 hours (how did we ever survive previously without lounges...) and generally grazed and napped our way through the time zone changes.

Istanbul airport transit was smooth, Turkish Airlines lounge was nice and our last flight fortunately departed on time! Yay! I will finish off this post now and resume when we arrive in Greece!

Take us away already!! Plane 1 from Sydney to Singapore

Journeys are always better at the pointy end

The newly opened T3 SilverKris lounge at Changi

I'm obsessed with this ondeh ondeh flavoured sponge!

Plane 2 to take us from Singapore to Istanbul

Loving the Turkish Airlines amenities kits!

Here's how the tea station looks like in a Turkish lounge!

And green chilli on offer as part of the breakfast buffet...

Jonah's choice of breakfast 😂

The final plane taking us from Istanbul to Athens

Tired but still upright! See you in Athens!
