One More Tart

Blessed with sunny blue skies on our last day in Portugal, we made our way up to St George's Castle (Castelo de São Jorge). We were advised by Eugenia, our guide from our first to visit early in the morning. We were glad we heeded her words of wisdom as we were able to explore the serene ancient castle complex barely encountering other tourists. By the time we made our way back out, the streets leading to the castle were teeming with tourists.

Having uber'ed our way up the hill, we opted to amble down towards Baixa. As this was our last European stop, we had to make our best effort to ditch all our Euro coins. The children made easy work of this, emptying the coin purse within minutes...It was apparently time for Portuguese tarts. The copious amounts that they had consumed over the past couple of days had not sated their appetite...

Grandpa had a sore foot and Nana a sore back, and so were unfortunately unable to join us on our morning excursion. Instead they took us to an afternoon tea farewell of...portuguese tarts! They would be heading home via England while we worked our way home via the United States.

Thank you Portugal. It was short but definitely sweet!

Still early. Hardly any other tourist in sight...

Exploring the fort

Panoramic view of the city from the Castle

Large courtyards of the actual castle ruin

New clothes and suddenly she wants photos taken! Atop the 11th century castle

Oma and Opa made the climb!

Peacocks in the grounds

When there are stumps to stand on, one does karate kid poses...

Apparently this tiredness can only be fixed with a Portuguese tart...

We believed the writing on the wall...

Wandering the streets of Lisbon

Iconic trams of Lisbon
Yay for Elevadors! It looked like a normal building but it housed a public elevator so as to easily make it from a lower part of the city to a higher part

Finally getting the Japanese flavours we were craving last night!

Ah...poke bowl

Happy with his purchase

Spoilt by Daddy!
